Triple B Smoothie Green smoothies, fruit smoothies, protein smoothies...I love them all.  It's a great way to eat your veggies, fruits, and proteins all in one go, which is especially helpful for a busy bee like me!

One of my favorite smoothies to make is the Triple B Smoothie made with Banana, Beet, and Blueberries.  Now before you say, "Gross!" to the thought of beets in your smoothie, let me first lay out the benefits of this amazing root vegetable!  They are rich in vitamin C, antioxidants, and betaine, and they taste perfectly sweet!

Triple B Smoothie

Here is what you need:

  • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk (or to cut calories, you can do 1c. unsweetened almond milk and 1 c. water)
  • 1-2 scoops of brown rice protein (I like vanilla Sunwarrior or Perfect Fit)
  • 1 c. blueberries, fresh or frozen
  • 1 medium banana, fresh or frozen
  • 1 medium raw beet, peeled and diced

Let's put it all together!

First, wash and peel your beet.  I like to hold it at the root to make it easier.  If you buy your beets with the greens still on it, be sure to save them!  You can saute them with a little bit of olive oil, salt, and pepper for a quick leafy green side dish.  Dice up your beet.

Next add all your ingredients into your high-powered blender.

I LOVE MY BLENDTEC!  I bought this baby at Costco, and it is POWERFUL!  Plus, it's much cheaper than a Vitamix (which is also a great blender!).  Blend up your ingredients on high until thoroughly mixed (about 30 seconds).  I just choose the "smoothie" option on my blender.

It should have a gorgeous reddish purplish color.  So pretty!!!
